FAQ's
Am I required to obtain a solicitor’s permit or license to sell items door to door?
Yes, anyone going door to door in a residential area soliciting funds for goods or services (Selling a product for profit) is required to obtain a solicitor`s permit. Once you obtain the permit, you must conspicuously attach and exhibit the license on the outside of your clothing, and you must present the receipt, showing proof of purchase of the license, when asked. You may not solicit before 8am or after 8pm, or on any holiday as defined in ORC Section 1.14. (No permit is required for those soliciting for non-profit, charitable, or recognized religious organizations; as long as they are not compensated for the soliciting.)
